Caipirinha is Brazil’s national cocktail. It is made with a cachaça; a liquor made from the fermented juice from sugarcanes.
Two of the liquor’s nick names are abre-coração and bafo-de-tigre. The first means heart opener and the second means tiger breath.
To understand the actual meaning of those names, we suggest you chill with a Caipirinha this summer. You won’t regret expanding your cocktail repertoire!
– 2 small limes in wedges
– 2 tea spoons of caster sugar
– 60 ml cachaça
– Ice cubes
How to Make a Great Caipirinha:
- Crush the limes and sugar together with a muddler until the sugar dissolves (id you’d prefer, add lime wedges whole)
- Fill up highball tumbler or traditional old fashioned glass with ice cubes and pour in the cachaça*
- Stir and serve. Enjoy!
*You can also change the cachaça to vodka (Caipiroska) or sake (Sakeirinha).
We can’t get enough of this refreshing cocktail! What’s your summer favourite?
